Plus BKLYN is NYC's only buy/sell/trade shop exclusively for plus-size fashion. We've been serving the plus-size community since 2017 and we’re located out of our Greenpoint, Brooklyn where we curate trend-forward vintage and contemporary resale in sizes 12+ for people of all identities.

 

About the Role

 

This is primarily a sales floor role with a buying leadership component. You'll spend most of your time on the floor as a sales associate, and rotate through buying shifts as part of your responsibilities.

 

This is a player-coach role, not a management position. You'll report directly to the Store Manager. But if you're someone who loves fashion, leads by example, and is just as energized helping a customer find something they love as you are shaping how we curate our inventory, this might be exactly the opportunity for you.

 

The buying lead piece means you're helping set and hold the standard for how we buy. You'll work alongside the team, mentor staff on buying procedures, and keep our inventory and pricing consistent and on-brand. We'll teach you our buying process …. what we can't teach is a genuine eye for fashion, quality, and what our community actually wants to wear.

 

 

What You'll Actually Be Doing

 

On the floor (most of the time):

 

• Providing excellent, warm customer service at the front desk, fitting rooms, and on the floor
• Keeping the shop looking good — merchandising, rack flow, shop upkeep
• Supporting opening and closing procedures
• Being a positive, present presence for customers and teammates

 

At the buying desk (rotational):

 

• Conducting live and drop-off buying appointments
• Evaluating clothing for trend relevance, quality, condition, seasonality, sizing, and resale potential
• Maintaining consistency in pricing and buying standards across the team
• Identifying gaps in inventory — categories, sizes, trends we're missing
• Supporting live sale prep and inventory pulls for Whatnot and Instagram

 

As the buying lead:

 

• Training and mentoring staff on buying procedures and pricing consistency
• Helping troubleshoot inventory discrepancies and keeping intake organized
• Overseeing tagging, sizing, pricing, and categorization accuracy
• Putting together a weekly buying digest to keep the team aligned
• Upholding photography and listing standards for online inventory

 

You're the Right Person If You:

 

 

• Have worked in fashion retail and have a genuine, innate eye for style, quality fabrication, and brands — especially plus-size brands
• Are just as comfortable and energized on the sales floor as you are behind the scenes
• Are warm, high-EQ, and genuinely great with customers and colleagues
• Show real leadership instincts — you think autonomously, direct work thoughtfully, and drive outcomes without needing to be micromanaged
• Can give feedback and hold standards without making it weird
• Are proactive — you notice what needs doing and you do it
• Genuinely care about plus-size community and inclusive retail spaces

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Fashion retail experience (resale, vintage, or contemporary)
• Buy/sell/trade or resale buying experience is a bonus but not required — we'll train the right person
• Keyholder or player-coach experience
• Experience on resale platforms like Depop, Poshmark, eBay, Whatnot, or similar
• Familiarity with Shopify or live selling platforms
  

 

Compensation + Perks:

 

• $22/hr
• Monthly store credit + first dibs on inventory
